HIDDEN GOLD.
FISHERMAN’S FIND. VANCOUVER, Feb. 22. A message from Nassau in the Bahamas, states that tlie police have reported that Gerald Fitzgerald, a poverty-stricken fisherman, found five bars of gold valued at 60,000 dollars, buried beneath a wild plrim tree on the shore of. New Providence Island. Apparently the gold is an ancient pirate treasure. Tlie hiding-place was marked with a Freemason’s insignia.
The British Government acquires approximately two-thirds of the gold’s value.
