MURDER TRIAL.

WOMAN ACQUITTED. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Feb. . 23. The trial of Mrs Elizabeth Grace Donaldson for the alleged mqrder of her husband was concluded in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr Justice Ostler. His Honour, in summing up, said that there were three courses oDen to the jury—to convict of murder, to convict of manslaughter, or to acquit. He ruled that there was not sufficient evidence to convict of murder. If, on the other hand, accused had been stung to passion by her husband’s provocation, then they were entitled to convict of manslaughter. After a retirement of an hour, the jury acquitted accused.. The verdict was applauded by a crowded gallery, but the applause was quickly checked by Court orderlies.
