H. Abrahams (Nelson) 3. B flat or BB bass solo.—T. H. Hughes (Nelson) 1, C. Hansen (Woolston) and A. Hughes (Woolston) equal 2. G trombone solo (own s’election). — G. Cummings (W.M.T.), “Crystal Palace,” 92 points, 1; T. Anderson (St. K.M.), “Wairakei,” 89 points, 2; W. Steero (W.), “The Arethusa,” 88 points, 3. Baritone solo (own selection): E. O’Brien (W.M.T.), “Singvogelchen,” 92 points, 1; J. E. Maybury (P.N.S.), “Fantasie Gonoertante,” 90 points, 2; R. Garner (W.G.), “Weber’s Last Waltz,” 89 points, 3. Quartet, “Eurynnthe’ ’. —Wanganui Garrison No. 1, 87 points, 1; Port Nicholson No. 1, 85 points, 2; Woolston No. 2, 84 points, 3. The B grade first test selection (Lortzing’s “Undine”) was played tonight. The placings were as follow, but no points will be announced until after the playing of the second piece: Masterton Municipal 1, Hastings Citizens’ 2, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and Oamaru Municipal equal 3, Christchurch Municipal 5; Miramar Silver 6, Nelson Garrison 7, Stratford Municipal 8, Carterton Municipal 9, Dunedin City Tramways 10.
