KIMBOLTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KIMBOLTON, Feb. 22. The Kimbolton Women’s Institute held their first open night in the Town- Hall tho other evening, visitors fijom neighbouring institutes and friends being present from all parts of the district. In welcoming Mrs Kelso, Dominion secretary of the Women’s Institute, and the visitors, Mrs Bamicoat, president of the Kimbolton Institute, said she hoped that their timo spent with the Women’s Institute would always remain a pleasant memory. Mrs Kelso spoke on life in South "Africa, and. captured her hearers’ interest immediately. She dealt with her subject in the simplest phrases and had tho gift of enabling her listeners to visualise that which ehe described. Her lecture was full of interest and it is hoped that in the near futuro Kimbolton residents will have tho privilege of again hearing her address them. During the evening items wore rendered by Messrs D. L. Jackman and D. Everiss. These two singers were also heard to a great advantage in a duet. The accompaniments were played by Dr Barnicoat. A very amusing and witty playette was performed by Mrs Bamicoat, Misses R. Edney and R. Dorward (members of the institute). After a bountiful, supper, provided by the members of tho institute, the floor was cleared for dancing, music being supplied by Mrs Shapleski and Mr W. J. Hansen, extras being supplied by Mrs Bamicoat, Misses Edney and Hore. Tho duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mrs Bamicoat and Messrs Waugh and Hansen. The Tennis Club held the first of their Saturday night dances on Saturday. The muaio was supplied by Miss Atldio Bunbury and Mr W. J. Hansen, extras being played by Miss Vera Hore. Tho duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Messrs Waugh and Ferguson. Mrs McDonald, of Raumai, is spending a few days in Kimbolton and is the guest of Mrs R. Richardson. Mosdamcs Hair and Gray left yesterday for Waikanae. •
