“COME LASSES AND LADS!”

An event which is being eagerly looked forward to by the young folks and grownups alike of Palmerston North, is the children’s procession to be held next Saturday under tho auspices of the S.P.C.A. There will be grand parade of children’s pets, assembling first at the circus grounds and then parading round the Square at 2,30 p.m Prizes will be given for all classes of entries—ponies, dogs, fancy costumes, animal imitations, decorated bicycles, go-carts, etc. In the’ evening, a carnival and dance cabaret will be opened by His Worship the Mayor at the Empire Hall. The Wanganui antidepressionists already known to Palmerston North audionces ' will provide excellent entertainment. Of these artists Manlyn McGill and Hilton Osborne appeared hero in the “Beggar’s Opera,” the former as “Jenny Diver” and the latter as the star, “Captain Macßeth.” The soprano, Hilda Crysel. is not merely a singer with on exquisite voice, but an actress possessed of charm and personality. Erio Lind, another member, has gained renown as an outstanding performer in many productions of the Wanganui Amateur Dramatic Society. Of tho dancers, Gwen O’Mahoney and Geo. Allen, both pupils of Miss Evelyn Wright, are performers of exceptional ability. The piamste, Freda Cunninghame (L.A.8.) must be heard to, bo appreciated, and last, but by no means least, are the two comedians of tho company, Jim Scott and Ross Tulloch, both bound to provide ample fun. Tho Melody Makers are a personality Jazz band run on the true lines of the famous Savoy Quartette of London and are indeed the password in originality. During tho evening many amusement novelties will be staged and dancing will be from 10 to 12.
