Devereaux, representative of the Australian wool-growers in England, reports that manufacturers in Yorkshire, whether of tops, yarns or finished goods, are well employed. The strike of operatives in the Batley .district is over, while the machinery is active and the tone cheerful and confident.
Prices for tops generally are maintained. French top-makers are reasonably active, but the spinners are reported to be working short time. The consumption of tops in Germany continues to be well maintained in volume, though there is a slight reduction in prices. The Belgian spinners are working only half-time.
