GIFT TO TREASURY.
QUEENSLAND RESIDENT’S GOLD* Recent cables from London have reported that the British Treasury has received many voluntary gifts of money, as well as gifts in kind of pieces of jewellery and other valuables. This example has been followed by a Queensland resident, who recently sent to the Federal Treasurer two "gold articles as a gift “towards the liquidation of the national debt,” and suggested that a general appeal be made for old gold articles for this purpose.
