RAIN IN MANAWATU.
f HEAVY FALLS ELSEWHERE. Light rain fell again last evening in the Palmerston North and Feildmg districts and other parts of theJVlanawatu, but the fall wps not a reaiiy appreciable one, though it had a freshening effect. Only six points were recorded by Mr T. R. Moore, of “Waimarama, Terraco End, during the 24 hours ended B a.m.. making.a total of 37 points, or much less than half an inch of rainfall, so far this month. There were light showers at intervals this morning, witn prospects of further rain. Heavy easterly rain, state Press Association messages, was falling to-day in Canterbury, doing an immense amount of good to farm lands. Sports fixtures at Christchurch were postponed. Similarly heavy rain was falling at Auckland and in the Waikato. Race 'meetings had to be postponed at Auckland, Hamilton and Kaikoura. PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH POSTPONED. GROUND UNDER WATER.
