FLIGHT TO-AUSTRALIA
AIRMEN’S PROGRESS. EXPERIENCE WITH ’PLANE. MISHAP AVERTED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received February 20, 9.10 a.m. ROME, Feb. 19. ! Flight-Lieutenant L. Hamilton ’ and Flying Officer .R. K. Ooupland, who are flying to Darwin and back, left for Athens after arriving fifteen hours’ late. The machine dropped like a stone 1000 feet after passing Genoa, and the contents of the ’plane, were hurled against the ceiling. Both were stunned, and both had their heads cute Lieutenant Hamilton recovered, and the machine was swerved to avoid a snowclad hilltop. The ’plane landed in ; a deserted emergency flying field, where they 6pent the night. . ■
