CENTRAL SCHOOL.
COST OF ALTERATIONS. REMOVAL*"oF TIMBER. Following a request by Mr M. H. Oram for full information at the earliest possible moment, the Wanganui Education Board decided yesterday that a report on the cost of the reconstruction of. the Central School, Palmerston North, should be furnished at the next mectihg. The architect (Mr • E.. R. Hodge) said it was anticipated < that the cost would be £2OOO below the estimate. Stating that as a letter had already appeared in .the Press regarding the removal of surplus timber from the Central School, he would like the position explained, Mr J. K. Hornblow read tire statement which had been made. It alleged that people connected with the Education Board had secured some of this timber, and that relief workers had been refused it. Mr Hodge reported that a number of people had bought timber, and some of the balance had been stolen. The relief workers had had an equal opportunity to buy timber with other people. ■ _____
