FLETCHER SHIELD CHALLENGE. MANAWATU RETAIN TROPHY. Fdur Northern Club rinks visited the Manawatu green on Saturday m quest of the Fletcher Shield and put up a good showing, but could, only manage to effect a draw, although Bennett’s rink put up the substantial margin of 26 points to 18. Against Bennett’s, Preece’s rink registered an eight on the 19th head. The following were the scores, the Manawatu rinks . being placed first:— Bates, Christmas, Kershaw, : Preeee (skip) 18 v. Andrew, Binns, Robinson, Bennett (skip) -26. Attwood, Broughton, Kennedy, Barnes (skip) 22 y. Douglas, Palmer, Teale, Larcomb (skip) 17. Royal, Porter, Gilbert, Radford (skip) 18 v. Moxon, Beattie, Sharman, Fenwick (skip) 16. E. Low, D. W. Low, Hunter, Corbridge (skip) 18 v. Ranson, Kirk, Stallard, Stuart (skip) 17. Totals: Manawatu, 76; Northern, 76.

TERRACE END AVIN DIXON CUP. The Terrace End Bowling Club’s team which visited Woodville on Saturday afternoon succeeded in lifting the Dixon Cup by a comfortable margin. The scores were;- Christiansen, Wallace, Grant, Johnston (skip) 24, beat Bly, Aim, Cuming, Horne (skip) 16.
