PALMERSTON NORTH v. THE REST

On the Linton Street courts on Saturday afternoon a tennis match was played between the Palmerston North Club and “The Rest.” The result was an easy win for Palmerston North, the club being successful by 10 to two in the singles and a similar way in the doubles. PARTNERS’ HANDICAP.

Members of the Northern Tennis Club engaged in a “change partners” handicap tournament on Saturday afternoon when 40 members participated, and a highly enjoyable afternoon was spent. The winner of the lady’s trophy was Mrs J. Hadfield and of the men’s Mr C. N. Smith, both players attaining the maximum • number of points, 150. Other good scores were: Miss M. Garner 147, Mrs J. Muggeridge 146, Miss Ranson 145, Mrs W. Lindsay 142, Mrs C. N. Smith 141, Miss L. Port 139, Miss M. Waters 138, and Miss Vincent 138; Mr W. Lindsay 145, Mr C. Beattie 141, Mr C. Hands 139, Mr R. Brien 138. Mr R. French 136, Mr R. Cutler 136. TOURNAMENT AT TAKARO. A successful Yankee tournament was held by the Takaro Tennis Club during the week-end, over 50 players taking part. Messrs E. Norris, F. G. Scott and G. Dawick had charge of the arrangements. Time did not allow the games to be finished, and the winners of each section will require to play off during this week. In section B, C. McAffer and Miss D. Smith (2) will play L. Cooksley and Miss R. Christian (3). The winners 'of this game will meet G. Dawick and F. G. Scott (3). BUNNYTHORPE v. LONGBURN. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTHORPE, Dec. 7. A friendly- tennis match was played at Longburn on Saturday between Bunnythorpe and Longburn.
