MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
\t the Magistrate’s Court to-day before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., a voung man named Aubrey James Daniel Thorpe, a labourer, was charged that between October 1 and November 21, at Palmerston North, he did commit the theft of an electric_ iron valued at £l, a nair of hedge clippers valued at ss. and a spirit level valued at 10s, the propertv of Frederick Dillon, also that between the same dates he did commit the theft of a set of hits valued at 30s, and an automatic drill valued at 12s 6d, the property of Albert Anderson. ' Accused pleaded guilty to both charges and elected to be dealt with summarily. Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse stated that accused was a young married man. He had been out of work for a considerable period and had taken the goods, which had been stored at the one place, to obtain money. All the articles, with the exception of the iron, had been recovered and the owner would be recompensed for it. The Magistrate, in stating that he would give accused another chance, convicted him and ordered him to come up for sentence any time within the next twelve months.
