SOCIALISM AND LAW.
NEW SOUTH WALES’ EXAMPLE.
VIEWS OF HON. J. A. YOUNG
HAMILTON, ]>ac. 1
A contrast between the respect for law and order shown by the people of the Dominion and that held in New South Wales -was drawn by the Minister of Health, Hon. J. A. Young, Coalition candidate for Hamilton, in impressing upon a meeting of electors at Pulcetalia the dangers of a Socialist Government.
Respect for the law- in New South Wales under a Labour Government had degenerated to such a degree that the police force appeared to be impotent to assure protection to citizens, said Mr Young. Committees had found it necessary to. take the, law into their own hands and to organise groups under the name of the New Guard to extend protection to those who could not get it from the authorities. If that was an example of what to expect under Labour-Socialist rule it behoved the electors in New Zealand to vote for Coalition and ensure that no such subversive factors were permitted to arise in this country.
