PORT OF FOXTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Aug. 21. From results during the past few years it seems that there is no reason why the port of Foxton should not be mado a paying concern if worked by the proper boats. Scows and similar light draught vessels arc admirable for this purpose as has been proved by the regular service maintained by one such boat. The performance of the coal scow Kotiti shows that in running times these little vesels can also compare very favourably _ with the steam propeller ones. The Kotiti cleared the Manawatu bar at 12.45 p.in. on Tuesday and arrived at Wellington at 9.45 the same evening, completing the trip in nine hours in a heavy sea.
