CITY ASSESSOR

ELECTION BY RATEPAYERS. A public meeting of ratepayers was held at the City Council Chambers last evening for the purpose of electing an Assessor for the City of Palmerston North. Tho meeting was convened pursuant to'the' provisions of the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, and its amendments and regulations thereunder, and was presided, over by Mr J. R. Hardie, the town olerk. Each ratepayer was entitled to one vote, and the ballot resulted in the election to office of Mr W. R. Bimie.

The appointment is for a term of three years.
