WHIPPET NOTES.

(By “Mike.”) The meeting held last week was quite a success, and some interesting racing was witnessed notwithstanding a heavy 1 track. Gold Dust, the back marker in the hurdles, hit a hurdle and fell when going well. Tea Bell, having her first race for some time, gave only a fair ; performance. The winner, Kiltie, scored a popular win by a small margin jfrom Moss Trooper, who was having his first try-out over the jumps. I In the final of the Manawatu Han[dicap, tho back marker, Gold Dust, off 19 yards, was beaten in an exciting finish |by his daughter, Nancy Lee, off 22 (yards, just failing by a nose to head her off. The Farewell Handicap produced another thrilling final, Manscott winning from Australia with the rest of the field well up. Four dogs made the trip from Wellington and three justified their presence by getting into the money. Old Tom did not produce his usual form. Mr Watt has disposed of the brindle dog Royal Abbey to Mr Thompson. Delafield, a seven-months-old puppy by Peter Piper, ex Nancy, having her first run, showed promise.
