THE SOCCER CODE.
The fortnightly meeting of the Manawatu Football Association management committee was held last evening. Mr F. W. Ivey presided in the absence of Mr J. C. Young and there were also present Messrs Kempson, Facer, Blackwell, Baldwin, Worrall, Cooper, Downes and J. B. Smillie (secretary). It was resolved that the matter of membership tickets be brought forward again before the end of the year. It was reported that a Referees’ Association liad been formed, but it would not bo affiliated to the New Zealand Referees’ Association for the present. The executive comprised Messrs Matthews, Ivey and Downes (secretary). It was resolved to enter a definite challenge for the Brown Shield. Mr H. Johnston is to be instructed to select a team and club delegates are to acsertain the members of their clubs who could travel for the game. Messrs Downes, Kempson, Cooper and Baldwin wero appointed a sub-com-mittee to decide on which ground next Saturday’s curtain-raiser will be played. It was resolved that for tho Chatham Cup game, a special ground be prepared if such a course is deemed necessary by a sub-committee at a meeting to be hold on Thursday. Mr Downes was appointed referee and Messrs Ivey and Corry were appointed linesmen for the game. The Diamonds Club (Wellington) wrote asking for a senior B game and for junior games for hoys under 15 and under 21 respectively at Palmerston North during August.—The offer was accepted, the teams to be selected later.
