SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE.
DARING AUSTRAIRAN’S EXPEDITION. NEW YORK. July 1. Portion of the South American jungle never before penetrated bv white men has been traversed by ill' J. Simpson, a young Australian mining engineer, of Hobart, who, with an American companion, Mr P. Chase, travelled from Lima across the Andes, down the Amazon fo.the Atlantic, and from the coast to Trinidad.
Mr Simpson stated upon his arrival hero that he and Mr Chase had been employed at the famous Cerro Pasca mine, and the trans-continental expedition afoot and by canoe was for the purpose of seeing the country. They crossed the Gran Pajonal, where the Indians had never heard of a white man, but proved to be friendly. The trip was completed without incident.
