BIG BOOKINGS FOR “AIIDDLE WATCH.”
For the first time on the screen there is a eomedy set on a British battleship in “The Middle Watch," at the Regent Theatre on Saturday. This play, by lan Hay and Stephen King-Hall, was very successful on the stage. but Norman Walker, the director of this British International picture, has avoided theatro effects, and given the camera plenty of scope. Conviction to tho settings and atmosphere is enhanced by the fact that the Admiralty granted facilities for the the scenes dealing with actual service routine. America, of course, lias long had tho advantage of such facilities, and it is gratifying to find that our own authorities appear to he relenting a little in their unbending attitude to film producers. The comedy, which deals with two girls accidentally marooned on a warship after a dance, and their encounter with an admiral,' is most amusing, lioth in dialogue and situation. Plans aro now open.
