HOMESTEAD DESTROYED.

MARLBOROUGH BEAUTY SPOT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 2. At four o’clock this morning the homestead of Mr G. F. Watts, Lansclowne, Wairau Valley, which was one of the show places of Marlborough, was completely destroyed by lire, together with its exceedingly valuable contents. The family and staff escaped with difficulty, practically nothing being saved.

The insurances- were £6OOO on the building and £3OOO on the contents. The cause of the fire has not yet. been ascertained. It appeared that its origin was in the roof and it spread with rapidity.
