FORGERY CHARGE.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 20. Percival John Scantlebury, aged 45, a solicitor, who was arrested yesterday on a forgery charge, appeared later before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court to answer a charge that on October 21, 1930, he made a false document, knowing it to be false, a statutory declaration in respect to his trust "Account for the year ending March 31, 1930, purporting to be signed by F. J. Reynolds, accountant, and Ernest J. Vickery, J.P., with intent that it should be used or acted upon as if it were genuine. On the application of the police, accused was remanded to appear on July 2. Mr E. W. Inder appeared for Scantlebury and asked for bail. Bail was fixed at £soo—one surety of £SOO or two of £250. Accused is to report daily to the police.
