Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 10. “There are too many of them for tlie business of the country to be conducted expeditiously and well,” said Mr C. P. Agar at a meeting of the council of the Chamber of Commerce, when a letter from the Associated Chambers, asking whether the chamber was in favour of a reduction in the number of members of Parliament, was tabled. “A reduction in the number of representatives would be an excellent thing for the country,” added Mr Agar. “If other chambers of commerce approve, then we should approach the members of Parliament to see whether thev would support such a suggestion. The matter would have to he proceeded with by degrees.” The letter was received.
