TEACHERS’ SALARIES

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 10. At the opening of the annual meeting of the Otago branch of the Educational Institute, Mr L. F. de Berry, tire president, gave an address on “Fundamental Problems in Education.”

In the course of his remarks, Mr de Berry suggested that the department should set up a special committee to report on tlie question of teachers’ salaries, primary, secondary, and technical. The committee should be composed of officers of the department, representative teachers, and representatives of industry. The business man had a definite interest in the question of education, and his opinion should be worth having.
