“Tin hats” and hard-toed boots, as worn in the U.S. army, are being recommended to their miners by one big American colliery company as likely to reduce the casualties due to accidents in the mines. For one shilling it is possible to enjoy all the sensations of flying—banking, stalling, spinning, and other aerial “stunts”—in a model aeroplane which does not leave the ground. It is installed in a London sports club.
