POLISH HISTORY.

EXHIBITION IN PARIS. An exhibition under the title “1830-1920-1930,” organised by the Polish Foreign Office, together with the Ministry of Education, was held in the “Salle du Jeu de Paume,” Paris, last month. The object of the show was to present a synthesis of Polish history in the period ioaU-1930, emphasising the country’s rich cultural life and the services rendered by Poland in the field of political thought and public spirit in Europe. The exhibition was divided into six sections: (1) The Polish-Russian War of 1830-1831; (2) the role of Poland in the organisation of European democracy, participation of Poles in the struggles of other nations for independence, Polish art, Chopin; (3) the Polish insurrection of 1863, the painter, Arthur Grottger, the struggle with absolutism, organic work in the period after the insurrection, the organisation of the Polish Socialist Party; (4) the role of Marshal Pilsudski, the legions, the participation of Poland in the World War; (5) 1920, the defence of the West from the Bolchevist invasion (exhibits from the chief historic office of the general inspection of the armed forces), and (6) the part Poland has played in the reconstruction of Europe. The exhibition contained a series of original documents, works of art, historic souvenirs, etc.; ! one of the rooms is devoted to Polish landscapes and to Polish folk art —one of the richest in Europe.
