The Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club conducted a meeting at the Sportsground last evening. The results were as follow: 100 yards handicap.—First heat: J. Claridge 1, A. Weston 2, R. Carter 3; time, 10 4-ssec. Second heat: M. Strange 1. H. McDonald 2; time, 10 3-ssec. Final: J. Claridge 1, A. Weston 2, M. Strange 3; time, lOsecs. 440 yards handicap.—lV. Plowright 1, M. Strange 2, C. Carter 3; time, 51secs. One lap cycle.—H. Rodgers 1, A. Mutch 2, G. I. Jones 3; time, 40secs. Three mile cycle.—H. Rodgers 1, I. McKenzie 2, R. Sowerby 3; time, 7min. 2 2-ssecs. One mile cycle (boys).—Cockburn 1, Skerman 2, C. McKenzie 3. The points for Ideal Special Cycle Cup and Boomerang Cup are as follow : H. Rodgers, 14 poiirts; A. Mutch, 9; I. McKenzie, 6; Lawrence, 5; Anderson and Jensen, 4; Sowerby and Jones, 3; Dixon, Ross and Donald, 2; Astin and Rush, 1.
AMERICAN ATHLETES. TO VISIT PALMERSTON NORTH. Application was made to the Palmerston North City Council last evening by the chairman of the reserves committee (Ci-. Fitzherbert) for the use of the Sportsground by the Manawatu subcentre of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre on March 16. He stated that he had received a letter making this request, as that was the only date which could bo arranged for the visit of the American athletes, owing to changes in their itinerary. It was proposed to hold an exhibition evening meeting. The application was granted on the usual terms.
