WANGANUI TOURNAMENT. The Wanganui lawn tennis championships are in progress, and there are competitors present from all parts of New Zealand. On the opening day, in the first round of the men’s singles, D. Robertson (Palmerston North) beat J. R. N. Keith 6—3, 6 —l ;J. E. Marshall beat AV. Boddy (Palmerston North) by default ; J. C. Robertson (Palmerston North) beat J. B. Hair B—6, 6—3. In the second round of the men’s singles, D. Robertson beat P. McCarthy 6—4, 4—6, 6—3; V. N. Hubble beat J. C. Robertson 6 —l, B—6.8 —6. In the third round, Udy beat D. Robertson 6—l, 6—3. In the first round of the ladies’ singles, Miss D. Haggitt (Palmerston North) beat Mrs E!arle 6—o, 6 —2. In the second round, Miss Haggitt beat Mrs J. E. Marshall 6—3. 6—2. ■ln the first round of the men’s doubles, J. C. Robertson and D. Robertson won bv default. In the second round, S. Powdrell and A. Pnwdrell beat J. C. and D. Robertson 6—4, 4—6, 6—o. In the first round of the mixed cjoubles, Powdrell and Miss Haggitt beat Keith and Mrs Rota 6 —2, 6 —o.
