MARINES AMBUSHED.
FIGHTING IN NICARAGUA. MANAGUA (Nicaragua), Jan. 1. Eight United States marines were killed and two seriously wounded when they were ambushed by bandits said to have been operating in a new offensive under the rebel general, Sandino. Marines have been fighting the bandits almost weekly for months, but this is the first time for over a year that they have suffered heavy losses.
