ASSAULTED AND ROBBED.
RESTAURANT KEEPER A VICTIM

Mr A. M. Baird, a middle-aged restaurantqur, was assaulted and robbed of two days’ takings, amounting to £6B, at about 1.30 o’clock on New Year’s morning. He went home in a taxi, in which two other men were passengers. All left) the taxi at Mr Baird’s gate and he wished the qihers a happy New Year.
Then, he says, he was sandbagged and robbed of the hag containing the money. The taxi in the meantime had gone on. . He shouted for help ami people, including his wife, who was ar. a party across the road, came out and picked him up. He is suffering froi i two black eyes and a broken nose.
