CONTROL OF POWER.

SYSTEM FOR FEILDING. Authority was given by tho Mana-watu-Oroua Power Board to-day for the installation of the pilot wire system in connection with water beaters in the Feilding Borough. The chief engineer (Mr W. A. Waters) pointed out the manifold advantages of the system for reducing the peak load, on which bulk charges by the Government were based. He stated that the power supplv to the water heaters could be directly controlled and there was no perceptible difference in the service.

Estimates by the engineer placed the saving at £2400 a year through clocks installed to control heaters in the country, and he considered there would be a saving of £BOO per annum through the pilot wire system giving similar results in Feilding.
