STANDARDISED CHEESE.
MANUFACTURING FORMULA. UNOFFICIAL STATEMENT. Per Press Association. HAWERA, Dec. 8. The Hawera Star publishes an unofficial statement intimating that an agreement has been reached on a formula for standardised cheese manufacture, following upon representations by deputations and the Dairy Board to the Minister of Agriculture, and that consideration is being given to an amendment of the regulations, under which the fat content of cheese other than full cream would, instead of being from 50 to 52 per cent, as at present, be _52 per cent from August 1 to the end of December, 53 per cent from the end of December to March 15, and 54 per cent for the remainder of the season. It is also stated that it is proposed to discard the standardisation brand, this cheese under a new regulation to be branded cheddar, and other cheese full cream.
