RANGITIKEI, Dec. 4. A closely contested game was fought on the Marton bowling green yesterday afternoon, for the Harford Tikis, betwen a challenging rink from Oroua —Way, Bramwell, Allen and Wilkinson —and the Marton team (Smart, Atkinson, Gorrie and Shine). On the 20th head the scores were 16 all, but the viistors were successful at the finish, the scores being 17 to 16. The final cycle road race of tho season of tho Marton Athletic Club was held las evening. In an exciting finish, J. Tolley beat C. Tolley by two feet. Both wero off the minute mark. H. Archibald, off the same mark, finished a wheel away. H. Moss, off two minutes, was fourth. The scratch men had a tough fight at the finish. C. Kaye beating A. Hensen by half a wheel. Their time was 39mins. 56seca.
