MIDNIGHT PROWLERS
Per Press Association. NAPIER, Sept. 21. Three men were disturbed shortly after midnight on Saturday when attempting to force an entrance to the premises of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers Co-operative Association in YVaipukurau. The men dashed to a waiting motor car. The manager, Mr L. G. Harker, was advised by telephone that some men were prowling about the premises. In company with a member of the staff he went to the place and found three men who appeared to be about to break in. The prowlers dashed to a waiting motor car, in which was a fourth man, who drove straight at Mr Harker and his companion. They stepped aside, however, but got the car’s number as it sped away. At four o’clock this four men in a car travelling toward Napier on the Taradale road were arrested.
