RECIPROCAL TRADE.
A HINT TO CANADA. BUTTER AND MOTOR CARS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 16. An intimation that the Government may be placed in a position of having to ’consider withdrawal of the application of the. British preferential tariff to motor cars imported from Canada was given by the Premier this ifiorning. Mr Forbes said New Zealand imported heavily from Canada and unless that country was prepared to purchase our butter and enable us to pay for the goods we bbuglit an extremely difficult position was likely to arise. On his wav Home he would discuss with the Canadian authorities the reciprocal trade arrangement between New Zealand and Canada, concluded Mr Forbes.
