CANADIAN RESTRICTIONS.

Received August 16, 10.45 a.m. OTTAWA, Aug. 15. The Minister of Immigration, Hon. W. S. Gordon, announced to-day the discontinuance of immigration from the Continent of Europe, with the exception of experienced farmers possessing ample means immediately to establish and maintain themselves and tlicir wives and children on the basis of persons already established in Canada. A message from Vancouver says that four Australian labourers arrived by the Niagara, but were refused admission on the grounds that they had insufficient capital and were likely to become a charge on the public.
