MISHAP TO TAHITI
NO CAUSE FOR ANXIETY. V UNION COMPANY’S STATEMENT. (By Telegraph.—-Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 16. The Union Company states that there are no further developments with regard to the Tahiti such as to cause anxiety. Wireless communication is difficult owing to the daylight. The steamers Ventura and Tofua have been diverted and can reach the Tahiti on Monday. PASSENGER LIST. The Tahiti took the following passengers from Wellington: —First saloon: Mr and Mrs L. R. Mr Jellfs. Mr King. Miss K. B. Lister, Mrs B. Lilly. Mr G. E. Laffey, Miss J. Lane. Mrs I. Lansing. Miss McClymond. Miss R. Mayor. Mr H. R. Petersen. Mr.C. E. Rackham. and 24 third class.
