CREDITORS’ ASSOCIATIONS.

CONFERENCE AT HASTINGS. Per Press Association. NAPIER Aug. 12. Delegates from creditors* associations throughout New Zealand met in conference (the fifst of its kind) in Hastings to-day. _ ... The Mayor (Mr G. F. Roach), in welcoming the delegates, expressed the hope that their deliberations would achieve something in the matter of controlling credit. The enormous waste of credit in New Zealand was to be deplored, and if the conference resulted in controlling losses by credit much benefit to the country would accrue. The chairman of the conference (Mr P. Loach), in reply, said that the credit business had been much abused, and suggested that children in the schools should be taught to honour their trust, the only other word for credit. Twelve hundred credit-givers are represented at the conference, which is continuing in committee.
