NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
END OF EXHIBITION,
DECREASED GATE REVENUE
The National Dairy Show was brought to a conclusion on Saturday. Unfavourable weather, in keeping with the usual circumstances, characterised the closing stages of the fixture. The elements were in a boisterous mood on Saturday evening, and the cold, biting wind and rain deterred many from attending. There was a decline of £325 Os 9d in the gate revenue for the Show, compared with the returns for last year’s fixture, the exhibition yielding £1571 3s 9d for the five days this year, compared with £1896 4s. Od for tho preceding Winter Show. Detailed figures aro us follow: —
Among tho exhibits at the Show was a display staged by the Railways Department, and in charge of its officers. SHOW AWARDS. CONFUSION IN NAMES. An unusual position arose in connection with tho awards in certain of tho classes in respect to poultry at the recent Winter Show, Mr J. Patterson, of Wanganui, being wrongly credited with several awards which were made to Mr James Patterson, of Taumarunui, such having been directly attributable to the absence of tho latter exhibitor’s name and address from tho index at the back of tho catalogue. The classes affected and the correct adjudications were as under: —Utility classes: Orpingtons, special for best black cock, Mr James Patterson (Taumarunui) 1. N.Z. Orpington Club’s Challenge Shield for best male or female in the utility classes: Mr James Patterson (Taumarunui) 1. Black Orpington cock: Mr James Patterson (Taumarunui) 1, James Pattereon (Wanganui) 2 and v.h.c.
