PUBLIC LIBRARY. WOODVILLE, May 20. Tho following committee was elected at the annua! meeting of tho subscribers to the Woodville public library: —His Worship the Mayor (Mr H. P. Horne), Cra R. R. Johnston, F. D. Maekie, G. Rose. Messrs T. H. Williams and S. Wright and Miss B. Gothard (secretary). Votes of thanks were passed to donors of books and magazines during the year, the librarian (Airs Spackman), the Press and the secretary. PERSONAL. A largo number were present at the Salvation Army Hall last evening when a farewell social was tendered to Air and Airs G. Uoldsack and their son. who are leaving shortly for Otahuhu. Tho evening was spent in games, while a recitation was contributed by Aim Shearman. Appreciation of tho work of the guests of honour was voiced by Sergeant-Major Richards, Bro. Carrington, and Bandmaster Kcay. Ensign Knight, the corps officer, mado a presentation to All- and Airs Goldsack and their son, and Air Goldsack replied on behalf of the family. Air and Airs H. P. Horno have returned from a short visit to Napier. The friends of Air V. Simpson, who underwent an operation to his hand last week, will be pleased to learn that he is making satisfactory progress toward recovery.
