AYRSHIRE CATTLE

POPULARITY IN CANADA. Interviewed this afternoon, Mr A. M. Weir, president of the New Zealand Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association, who has just returned with Mr F. Mills, a vice-president of the association, from a trip to Canada, said that Ayrshire cattle were becoming very popular in that Dominion. Scotland was really the home of tho Ayrshire, but in Canada the cattle were held in very high repute, the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association there being the second largest cattle breeders’ association in that Dominion. In regard to the bulls Mr AYeir has purchased in Canada, he stated that they could be regarded as real “topnotchers” and the infusing of fresh blood into New Zealand herds would be invaluable. New Zealand butter, said Mr AA T eir, had a great name in Canada. In his opinion New Zealand had nothing to fear from the other countries of tho world producing this commodity. Its quality was being recognised everywhere.
