WOOL MARKET.
CONFIDENCE RESTORED. LONDON, May 17. The satisfactory course of the London wool sales is generady regarded as an indication that confidence has been restored, most of the expert writers expressing optimistic views. The Economist’s corespondent says: “The rise in values shows unmistakably that the industry is in much better heart. The movement in London has fully confirmed the improvement that has taken place since the second series closed, notwithstanding that fully half the mills in the Vest Riding are at a standstill. Continental buyers are very much in evidence. The Home trade has been the principal operator in crossbreds. There is a big offering of the latter, but it is not iikely to be detrimental to their ready disposal. It is not too much to anticipate that all the offerings will be cleared without much, if any, reaction.”
