BIRTHDAY PARTY.
At the Empire Hall on Wednesday evening, after the wedding festivities, a party was held to celebrate the 21st birthday of. Miss Rita Linklater. The hall was beautifully decorated with coloured paper ropes, and native shrubs and greenery adorned the stage, presenting a very charming setting for the many beautiful frocks worn. Dancing was the order of the evening, and a professional orchestra supplied music throughout. At an interval the McKenzie Bros., partnered by Misses K. McLeod and E. Mc-Kenzie-Forbes, gave an exhibition of the Scotch reel. At the supper table Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., called on Mr F. Yorfct to propose the toast of Miss Linklater. Mr Yortt, in a happy speech, extended congratulations to Miss Linklater, and paid a tribute to her capabilities in snort and social life. "For She's a Jolly. Good Fellow" was then sung. Miss Linklater made a charming little speech in reply, thanking her father and mother for giving her. the opportunity of having so many good friends around her. She then called on her guests to toast the health of her friend, Miss Marjorie Saunders, whose birthday fell on the same day as her own. By request, Mr J. •Linklater, M.P., gave a vocal item, "The Great Red Dawn," and Mr J. H. Perrett, of Sanson, sang "When the Jacks Come Home." Mr J. A. Nash acted as accompanist, and everyone joined in the choruses. A pleasant gathering terminated with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
