Ah Chuen, market gardener, of Levin, who filed a petition in bankruptcy on May 7, has assets, in the form of a garden and horse and cart, amounting to £lO9, while his debts total £437 16s 6d.

Bankrupt’s chief unsecured creditors are D. Bowie and Co., Wellington, £59 Is 4d, Wong She and Co., Wellington, £99 5s 7d, and Laery and Co., Wellington, £4l 13s 4d. while he has 13 other unsecured creditors, who are mostly Chinese fruiterers. There are no secured creditors. In a statement, bankrupt attributed his position to heavy losses through the market going against him, and also to the fact that there was a shortage of water for his crops. The moneys which he borrowed from Chinese were all expended in paying wages and rent during the bad seasons.
