LORD AND LADY BLEDISLOE.
PARTY FOR BUSINESS FIRMS. INFORMAL FUNCTION. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, May 10. A desire to meet personally as many people of the Dominion as possible has been expressed by the Governor-General, and as a result Their Excellencies have decided to hold a garden party at Government House on May 24 for the members of the staffs of the city’s business and commercial houses. Invitations have been sent to a large number of firms, and personal invitations will be sent later. It is suggested that especially in the case of large establishments as many married people as possible should attend, so that both husband and wife may be present. The party will be quite informal, and if any of those who accept invitations find it inconvenient to go home . to change, His Excellency has expressed the hope that they will come just the same.
Owing to the limited accommodation at Government House it has been impossible to send invitations to all the firms, but another similar function will be held later.
