WOODVILLE.

A PAINFUL ACCIDENT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) YVOODVILLE, April 16. A painful accident occurred at tho Woodvillc railway yards, when Mr E. Harding, of Papatawa, tho secretary of the Papatawa Sports Club, received nasty injuries while trucking 6heejj. Although Mr Harding is not quito certain what actually occurred, it appears that ho lost his balance, and fell from a sheep truck, striking some iron railings. He gavo his right arm a very bad jar, and also suffered facial injuries. After being attended to by a doctor, he was able to return to his home. - MOTOR COLLISION. Two motor-cars camo into collsion on the YVoodvillc-Palmorston North Road, a fow miles from YVoodviflc, a. few days ago. They wero a sorvicc car driven by Georgo Rotter, and another driven by Mrs C. YValkcr, of Mangatainoka. Both cars weyo damaged but fortunately no one was injured. The usual monthly sitting of the YVoodvillo Police Court was hold to-day, Mr J. Miller, S.M., presiding. There were no criminal cases sec down for hearing, tho business being confined to civil cases.Judgment by default for £l2 12s 7d was given tho YVoodville Borough Council against A. J. Howard for outstanding rates. The maintenance case, Middleton v. Middleton, was adjourned sine die. In opposing an adjournment in the latter case, Mr YV. A. Lyon, who appeared for plaintiff, stated that his client wished for custody of the children. In granting an adjournment, the Magistrate stated that, in tho event of maintenance not being paid, he was prepared to hear the caso while on one of his fortnightly visits to Dannevirke. The case of F. Shearman v. A. McDonald, adjourned from the last sitting of tho court, was continued to-day. Tho claim was for costs arising out of renewed electrical wiring. It was alleged that, after inspection of tho installation by the inspector of the Dannevirke Power Board, ij; was found that the wiring made by defendant was faulty and therefore condemned. New wiring was effected. Evidence was given by Mr Shearman in respect of tho inconvenionce experienced during the period the lighting was failing and detailed visits of tho various electrical engineers. After evidence had hcen given by electrical engineers on technical points, and evidence in defence, the Magistrate gave a verdict in favour of plaintiff for the full amount claimed with costa.
