OVERSEAS FARMERS.

OBJECTION TO TOURS. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 16. Opposition to the visits of overseas farmers to New Zealand, on the ground that they made use of knowledge gained to the detriment of New Zealand farmers was voiced by Mr W. J. Freeth at tire annual meeting of the Urenui branch of the Farmers’ Union. Mr- Freeth said lie thought that New Zealand would, ultimately have to pay for these visits, which might be beneficial to visitors, but would certainly prove otherwise fof the farmers of New Zealand, i \ . A party of Americans, lie said, had visited New Zealand, and on their return had reported that the New Zealand farmer could produce butter for 4d per lb less than they could. As a resplt. the Americans had at' onoe clapped on a duty of 4d per lb.
