SEALING OF ROAD.

HIGHWAY TO RANGIOTU. FINAL THREE MILES. Bituminising work on the three-mile section of main highway from Rangiotu to the point - where the present sealed surface ends just near. Hamilton’s Line, beyond Tiakitahuna, ' has now been commenced, and is proceeding apace. Work on this stretch, which has been in an exceedingly rough state for some time, and is regarded as the worst and most dangerous section of the road between Palmerston North and Foxton, began about a fortnight ago, after being held up pending the granting of a subsidy. Its completion will mark a notable improvement in the main highways communications. Formerly the road in the vicinity of the Half-crown Bend had a dangerous camber. This is being remedied and the surface is being graded in preparation for the sealing, which has. commenced at the Rangiotu bridge. ■ When the work is completed, the road from Palmerston North to Rangi-’ otu will be completely sealed and traffic will have the advantage of vastly improved conditions. It is understood that a start will subsequently be made with the sealing of the road between Foxton arid Himatangi.
