FINE AND LICENSE CANCELLED. WELLINGTON, April 16. A sequel to an accident on the Hutt Road near the entrance.to Ngahaur.anga Gorge was heard before Mr E. Page, S.M., in the Pojice Court yesterday, when Sydney Reuben Salmon, a baker, aged 32, was charged with being drunk while in charge of a motor-car. The vehicle driven by accused collided with a motor-bus, and it was reduced almost to a total wreck. After hearing evidence which lasted all day the Magistrate said that he was convinced accused was in a state of intoxication while in charge of the oar. There were stated to have been others in the car when the accident occurred, but they disappeared and they had not been seen sincA Three civilians who saw accused after the accident all stated he was suffering from the effects of drink, and three police officers also said that he was not fit to drive a car. In imposing a fine of £2O with costs £1 16s, the Magistrate suspended accused’s driving license for a year.
