GIFT FOR REST HOME.
SEVENTY ACRES AT OTAKI. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 15. Seventy acres of land at Otaki, estimated to be worth, several thousands of pounds, have been presented to tho Government for use as a site for a rest home by Mr Byron Brown. The property, which possesses both beach and road access, embraces a forest of pines and a considerable area of arable land. This handsome gift follows one °f four acres recently made to the Government by Mr Byron Brown for the purpose of a children's health camp. “The estate is a very fine one,” said the Minister of Health in referring to Mr Byron Brown’s handsome gift. ‘ It is worth some thousands of pounds, and I am of opinion that the gift’ is beyond all praise. I hope to see an institution established there of which New Zealand will be proud. Mr Byron Brown’s unstinted generosity will be widely appreciated.”
